The London to Brighton vintage car rally is an annual event that showcases vintage cars built before 1905 and coming from all over the world.
I haphazardly came across this event hanging out in the street of East Croydon early in the morning while waiting to get ready to come back to New York City. When the first clip was taken, I had not known the funny looking cars were part of a rally. Rather, I thought that the people in East Croydon had some special kind of public transportation looking like the old cars. It was not until almost half and hour later when I asked a police what those things were did I learn about the annual rally.

Great video, thanks for posting. Aren’t they old beauty’s. It is such a shame that cars these days aren’t built to the standards that the old cars were built to and also to do the slower speeds that these old cars used to do. There may not be as many horrific accidents on the road. They were definately built properly in those days.

Lovely video. For further local colour, did you realise the annual rally commemorates the change in British law which permitted a car to run without being preceded by a man on foot carrying a red warning flag? It’s true!

That was a cool video. well shot u were in the perfect place to get all the cars in good detail. it was an ideal place to film the rally which makes it amazing that you just stumbled upon it. i am not nec. a huge vintage car fan but this video was interesting and also somehow calming and relaxing.

I really was at in the right place at the right time… The thing is.. I was crashing at the hotel room with a friend who went to attend grandma’s 100 year old birthday party. She had to check out 8-ish in the morning to get back to US, and, I also got out wondering around the town 8-9 o’clock in the morning. Then I saw these funny cars… and I said to myself… “Wow… the british people are really classic… Are these the cabs they use in the city?” :-O
