Yeah I know.. Its like Harley Davidson.. Everybody can see that Harleys are are super old fashioned both in technology and engineering compared to the Japanese sportsbikes. Honda, Suzuki and the rest. And the Harley seats are made for huge american arses. But if thats what you want then everything else is ****. And if we dont agree then we **** america. Americans should learn from stuff instead of fight it all the way. Their car business isnt exactly fantastic these days.
I don’t want to join this stupid “my country is better than yours” discussion, but all the great car making countries in Europe combined (UK, Italy, Germany, France) still have less population than the USA.
I don’t quite understand why a huge and car-crazy country like the USA has so few sports car manufacturers.

The Mustang isnt great. Just for an american car. Originally its just like any boring midrange BMW. All that super snake, Roush and all that are just tuneshops that fit blowers and turbos to them. The Elise is a 1.8 liter sportscar damnit, instead of learning that you can build modern and good things out of light weight materials, you go on and on about the old fashioned 2 ton steel with huge V8s. Two different worlds. BTW the Ford GT was great… guess why. Because Lotus helped them build it.
Think about this though. Saying you have a car that is 3,000 lbs… With 300 Hp. VS a car that is half the size with half the HP It’s gonna even out between both of the cars.
Just saw one on the road today, and I had to do a “double-take”. Such an awesome car and wicked fast.

Correct.. no real power in these things. But they sure smokes any Mustang on a track. Different worlds. Big heavy american will always draw the short straw against a 1.8 liter Lotus. Except ofcourse youre american and by performance you mean burnouts and dragrace.
Why do people compare the Elise to a Corvette.. When you want to compare an european sportscar to anything america… the Corvette is all you have. Americans have only one internationally competetive sportscar while I could mention probably 40 great european recent sportscars.. Thats why this ZR1 gets compared to everything from Bugatti Veyron to the Elise even tho they are totally different cars belonging to totally different segments of the market.
Why are people comparing the elise to the vette. They are completely different cars.
The elise is basically a road going go kart. One of the most fun cars you are ever likely to drive.
The vette is more of a muscle car, and quite a decent one at that. That will easily out perform the elise as it has almost twice the power.
hmmm…well at top configurations, beats (in nearly every test) the Shelby GT-500, Camaro SS, and Challenger SRT-8.

You guys dont know alot about cars lotus did the setup for the handerling on the zr1 and too be honest it must have been like trying to polish a turd lotus make the best handerling cars in the world and have done for the last 50 years. Oh they also did the suspension setup on the Ford Gt and the new Nissan. Yank cars are a load of cheap crap made by donkeys and driven by stupid people from a stupid nation
